Empowering exotic dancers since 2004!

Stripper Shoes

Licensed to Strip

I'm not sure if a stripper union would help in a situation like this. Letting the government have their way now means they are going to get their way later too.

And what's with that uber-cliche "don't squeeze them" comment. Okay you're not funny.

"GENESEE COUNTY, Michigan - The price of a lap dance could go up if a state lawmaker has his way and that could have an impact on one county industry.

State Sen. Ray Basham, D-Taylor, has proposed legislation that would allow local municipalities to require exotic dancers to pay a $250 yearly license fee for taking their clothes off.

FJ: This one is irresistible: A pole tax for dancers!

(OMG hahahahahahhaha!)

Genesee County is home to nine strip clubs, and the idea isn't sitting well with some local dancers, who say they can't afford it.

"Tip money is all I make, and sometimes I go home with no money," said a Flint dancer who declined to give her name."

Call me a bitch but if you are a stripper and you think $250 a year is a lot of money perhaps a career change is in order. That is less than $25 dollars a month for licensing!

I pay out more in two nights working at my club. Get a real job already.

Pfft. That's nothing. Reno is $450, Atlanta is $350, Vegas just raised business licenses to $200.

What's your source for the quoted article?

Yeah I know the places you mentioned are places to make good money. Still even in some poe dunk town $250 for stripper should be no big deal. In Seattle it's $300 and the next county over it $89.

Under the "Listen Now" button that is the link to the article. Where you see the SQUEEZE commment.

The price is certainly trivial however:

what is the purpose of said tax?

is it to cover COSTS to the municipality? or is it an unjustified for profit action (read theft)?

where is the justificaion for any tax on this activity at all?

can municipalities just charge a tax on any activity they wish, for whatever reason they wish?

how does this serve the people?

what part of public servant dont they understand?

I fully support expensive annual licenses. It makes it more difficult for those who aren't serious to enter the business, decreases oversaturation of the clubs by traveling dancer, eliminates illegals and minors, and it's a tax deductible business expense.
